Table of Contents

Teaching students with physical or mental challenges in elementary or secondary school is a highly crucial and rewarding responsibility within today’s education landscape. The demand for special education teachers has never been greater, offering significant opportunities for educators currently licensed to teach in grades PK-12.

The Master of Special Education program at Wilson College is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive as a successful special education professional.

Vision for the Program

Individuals holding a bachelor’s degree and current certification to teach in grades PK-12 qualify for the Special Education Masters (MSE) degree.

The curriculum is based on the belief that to transition from being proficient teachers to exceptional ones, educators must possess extensive knowledge of pedagogy, mastery of contemporary theory, and a firm understanding of research-based practices and technology.

The primary objective of the Wilson program is to enhance teaching abilities through research, classroom methodologies, fostering teaching excellence, and promoting teacher leadership.

Advantages of Wilson Graduate Special Education Masters Programs

Online Courses offer students the flexibility to complete the entire degree online or opt for a few in-person courses.  Typically, class sizes are kept small, with fewer than 20 students.

The program’s admission process is straightforward due to the absence of a fixed course sequence, allowing participants to join or leave based on their schedules. You have the flexibility to graduate at your own pace, whether in one, two, three, or more years, with the requirement that all course prerequisites and degree criteria be fulfilled within six years of the initial class. The program incurs no additional fees; participants only need to pay the course tuition, which is often reimbursable by school districts. Tuition is competitively priced and ranks among the lowest in the region, with the option of a tuition deferral (a $50 deferral fee per semester).
